Our History
The story of Cibes began in 1947 when Swedish inventor Mr. Bertil Svedberg founded a manufacturing company producing goods lifts. During the 1960s, Cibes launched its first generation of home lifts, and shortly thereafter, the first series of platform lifts.
This was the beginning of a great journey in which Cibes transformed, becoming a global company with strong Swedish heritage.
In 2008, following a series of acquisitions, Cibes transformed into the Cibes Lift Group. By 2012, Cibes moved into a new headquarters and factory in Gävle (200 km north of Stockholm), which remains the heart of the company today.

Cibes In China
In 2018, due to the strong growth of our Asian region, Cibes Lift Group decided to open a new Asia-Pacific headquarters. After inspecting over 50 potential sites, and comprehensively weighting all options and advantages, they finally settled on the Jiaxing High-Tech Development Zone, thus beginning a new step in our journey in China.
This is the first time that a Cibes factory has been set up outside of Sweden in over 70 years. The goal is to provide customers with better service, meet more customized needs, shorten delivery time, accelerate the Group’s globalization process and enhance the brand’s global supply chain – and all following our exacting Swedish quality standards.
The new Asia Pacific headquarters cover an area of approximately 11,700 square meters. It contains an R&D center covering product development, testing and experimentation, as well as warehousing for lifts and imported parts, and a lift assembly to meet customized needs. Due to our focus on safety and quality control, the core components of every Cibes Lift are still imported from our global HQ in Gävle, Sweden.
